What is the SSY interest rate?

How long do I deposit and when does it mature?

Deposits are made for 15 years from account opening. The account matures 21 years after opening; no deposits are needed in years 16–21, but interest keeps accruing.

Who can open an account?

A parent or guardian, for a girl below 10 years of age — one account per girl, up to two girls per family (three for twins or triplets in the second birth). Minimum ₹250, maximum ₹1,50,000 a year.

Can money be withdrawn early?

Up to 50% of the balance at the end of the previous year can be withdrawn for higher education once she turns 18 or passes Class 10. Premature closure is allowed on her marriage after age 18.
