SIP Calculator
Estimate the future value of a monthly mutual fund SIP with year-wise growth of invested amount and returns.
About SIP Calculator
This free SIP calculator estimates how much a monthly systematic investment plan (SIP) in a mutual fund could grow to. Enter your monthly investment, the expected annual return and the number of years, and see the maturity value, total amount invested and wealth gained.
A year-wise table shows how the invested amount and returns build up over time, which makes the effect of compounding easy to see. The calculation assumes each instalment is invested at the start of the month. Returns in the market are not guaranteed, so try a few rates. For a SIP that rises every year, use the Step-up SIP Calculator. It all runs in your browser.
How to use SIP Calculator
- Enter your monthly SIP amount.
- Set the expected annual return and the number of years.

Frequently asked questions
What formula does this use?
FV = P × [((1 + i)n − 1) / i] × (1 + i), with i = annual return ÷ 12 ÷ 100 and n months, assuming each instalment is paid at the start of the month. ₹10,000 a month for 10 years at 12% grows to about ₹23.2 lakh.
Are SIP returns guaranteed?
No. Equity fund returns vary year to year; the rate you enter is an assumption. Long-term Indian equity index returns have historically been around 10–13% a year, but past performance does not guarantee future results.
How are mutual fund gains taxed?
For equity funds, long-term gains (held over 12 months) above ₹1.25 lakh a year are taxed at 12.5%; short-term gains at 20% (rates effective from 23 July 2024).
What is a systematic investment plan?
A SIP is a way of investing a fixed amount in a mutual fund at regular intervals, usually monthly, instead of all at once.
How much will ₹5,000 a month in SIP become in 10 years?
At an assumed 12% a year, about ₹11.6 lakh on ₹6 lakh invested. The actual value depends on market returns.
What is the difference between SIP and lumpsum?
A SIP invests a fixed amount every month; a lumpsum invests the whole amount once. Use the Lumpsum Calculator for one-time investments.
