SWP Calculator

Plan a systematic withdrawal from your corpus — how long it lasts, what remains, and a year-wise schedule.

About SWP Calculator

A systematic withdrawal plan (SWP) lets you take a fixed amount from a mutual fund every month, turning a corpus into a regular monthly income or pension. This free SWP calculator shows how long your money will last and what will be left.

Enter the total corpus, the monthly withdrawal and the expected annual return, and optionally a yearly increase in withdrawals to keep pace with rising costs. The year-wise schedule shows withdrawals, returns earned and the closing balance, and flags the point where the money runs out. It is handy for retirees planning a pension from mutual funds, and it runs in your browser.

How to use SWP Calculator

  1. Enter your corpus and the monthly amount you want to withdraw.
  2. Set the expected return and an optional yearly increase in withdrawals.
  3. See how long the money lasts and the balance year by year.

Frequently asked questions

How is the balance calculated?

Each month the balance earns the annual return ÷ 12, and then the withdrawal is taken out. If you set an annual increase, the withdrawal rises every 12 months.

What is a safe withdrawal amount?

If the monthly withdrawal is below the monthly return on the corpus, the capital is never touched. Withdrawing 4–5% of the corpus a year is a common rule of thumb for long retirements, but inflation and market risk matter.

How is SWP taxed?

Each withdrawal is a redemption of units; only the gain portion is taxed as capital gains, which often makes SWP more tax-efficient than interest income.

What is a systematic withdrawal plan?

It is an instruction to a mutual fund to redeem a fixed amount at regular intervals, usually monthly, from your investment.

How much monthly income can I get from ₹1 crore through SWP?

Withdrawing about ₹40,000–50,000 a month (4–6% a year) is a common starting range for a long retirement, but it depends on returns and how long you need the money.

Can I increase my SWP amount every year?

Yes. Set the yearly increase to see how a rising withdrawal affects how long the corpus lasts.
