About Income Tax Calculator
This free income tax calculator for India compares your tax under the new and old regimes for FY 2026-27 (AY 2027-28). Choose your age group, enter salary and other income, add employer NPS and, for the old regime, deductions such as 80C, 80D, HRA and home loan interest.
It uses the new regime tax slabs introduced for FY 2025-26 — nil up to ₹4 lakh, rising to 30% above ₹24 lakh — with the ₹75,000 standard deduction and the Section 87A rebate that makes salary up to ₹12.75 lakh tax-free. The slab-wise working, surcharge, cess and a monthly TDS figure are shown for both regimes, so you can see which is better. It runs in your browser.

Frequently asked questions
What are the new regime slabs for FY 2026-27?
Up to ₹4 lakh nil; ₹4–8 lakh 5%; ₹8–12 lakh 10%; ₹12–16 lakh 15%; ₹16–20 lakh 20%; ₹20–24 lakh 25%; above ₹24 lakh 30%. Salaried people get a ₹75,000 standard deduction.
Why is there no tax up to ₹12.75 lakh salary?
After the ₹75,000 standard deduction, taxable income is ₹12 lakh. Section 87A gives a rebate of up to ₹60,000 when taxable income is ₹12 lakh or less, which wipes out the tax. Just above ₹12 lakh, marginal relief ensures tax never exceeds the income above ₹12 lakh.
Which deductions are allowed in the new regime?
Standard deduction (₹75,000), employer NPS under 80CCD(2) (up to 14% of basic + DA), and a few others such as Agniveer corpus. 80C, 80D, HRA, LTA and self-occupied home loan interest are old-regime only.
What does this calculator not cover?
It is an estimate for resident individuals. Capital gains and other special-rate income (lottery, crypto), agricultural income, let-out property details and AMT are not included. Rounding follows Sections 288A/288B (nearest ₹10).
Which is better, the old or new tax regime?
The new regime is usually better unless your old-regime deductions — 80C, 80D, HRA and home loan interest — are large. Enter your figures to see both totals side by side.
How much tax do I pay on ₹15 lakh salary in the new regime?
After the ₹75,000 standard deduction, taxable income is ₹14.25 lakh; tax is ₹93,750 plus 4% cess, or ₹97,500 for FY 2026-27.
What is the income tax free limit in the new regime?
Taxable income up to ₹12 lakh has no tax after the 87A rebate, which is ₹12.75 lakh for salaried people after the standard deduction.
