How current are these rates?

Built-in rates are reference mid-market rates from 28 September 2026 and are approximate. Press Refresh live rates to load the latest daily rates from open.er-api.com; the time of the update is shown.

Why does my bank give a different rate?

Banks, cards and money changers add a margin (often 1–3.5%) and cards may add a foreign-currency markup plus 18% GST on that fee. The mid-market rate shown here is before those charges.

Is there tax on sending money abroad?

Under the Liberalised Remittance Scheme, TCS applies above ₹10 lakh in a financial year for most purposes (lower or nil for education funded by a loan). TCS can be claimed back when you file your return.

How do I convert USD to INR?

What is the mid-market exchange rate?

It is the midpoint between the buy and sell rates in global currency markets, before any bank or card margin is added.

Is the live rate the same as the forex card rate?

No. Forex cards and banks quote their own buy and sell rates, which include a margin over the mid-market rate.
