Frequently asked questions
How strong is the protection?
The file is encrypted with AES, which current PDF readers (Adobe Acrobat, Chrome, Edge, phone viewers) all support. Use a long password — at least 10 characters mixing words and numbers.
What is the owner password?
It controls permissions such as printing and copying. Readers who open the file with the normal password get the restricted permissions; the owner password unlocks everything. If you leave it blank, a random one is created for you.
I forgot the password — can you recover it?
No. The password is never stored or sent anywhere, so keep it safe. Keep an unprotected original for yourself.
Are my files uploaded anywhere?
No. The file is opened and processed entirely inside your browser using JavaScript libraries. Nothing is sent to a server, so it is safe for confidential documents.
