What GST applies to medicines now?
From 22 Sep 2025 (GST 2.0) most medicines and medical devices such as thermometers and glucometers are taxed at 5% (earlier 12%), and a list of life-saving drugs is at 0%. Choose the rate for each line. MRP includes GST, so the bill shows the tax inside it in the GST summary.
Which licence numbers should a chemist bill show?
The retail drug licence numbers — usually Form 20B (non-schedule-X drugs) and Form 21B (schedule C and C1 drugs) — along with the registered pharmacist’s name and the batch number and expiry of each medicine.
Do clinics charge GST on consultation?
No. Health care services by a clinical establishment or a registered doctor are exempt from GST. Set GST to 0% for consultation and procedure lines and choose “Clinic” as the bill type.
Can I make a bill for any purchase?
Issue these documents only for real transactions that you or your business actually made. Making bills for purchases that did not happen is fraud and a punishable offence.
