Each page is rendered at low resolution and the share of dark pixels is measured, ignoring a thin band at the edges (scanner borders) and single specks of dust. Pages below the sensitivity level are marked. You always review the marks before saving.

A lone page number covers very little of the page. Tick Keep pages that contain text to keep any page with real text, or click that page to unmark it.
Is the rest of the PDF changed?
No. The pages you keep are copied exactly as they are, so text stays selectable and images keep their quality.
What about password-protected PDFs?
PDFs that open without a password but block editing or printing (an owner password, common on bank statements and government downloads) work directly — the restrictions are lifted in your browser. A PDF that asks for a password to open must be unlocked first with Unlock PDF (you need its password).
