About Word Frequency Counter

This word frequency counter lists every word in your text with how many times it appears and its share of the total, most frequent first. Paste an article, essay, transcript or survey responses, set a minimum word length and choose whether to hide common stop words.

It is useful for checking keyword counts in blog posts, spotting overused words in your writing and analysing open-ended survey answers. The frequency table can be downloaded as a CSV file to open in Excel. The tool is free, needs no sign-up, and your text is analysed in your browser.

What are stop words?

Very common English words such as “the”, “is” and “and”. Hiding them makes the meaningful topic words stand out.

How is the percentage calculated?

Each word’s count is divided by the total number of counted words (after applying the minimum length and stop-word filter) and multiplied by 100.

How do I count how many times a word appears?

Paste your text and the table lists each word with its count, sorted from most to least frequent.

Can I export the word counts to Excel?

Yes. Download the table as a CSV file and open it in Excel or Google Sheets.

How do I check keyword density?

Look at the percentage column, which shows each word’s share of all words in the text.
