Typing Speed Test
Check your typing speed in WPM and accuracy with 30, 60 or 120-second tests on original English passages — ideal for SSC CHSL, CGL and court typing practice.
About Typing Speed Test
This typing speed test measures your speed in words per minute (WPM) and your accuracy. Choose a 30, 60 or 120-second test and a passage difficulty, then start typing; the timer begins with your first key and mistakes are highlighted in red as you go.
At the end you see your net WPM, accuracy and a speed-over-time chart, and your personal best is saved. The original English passages make it good practice for SSC CHSL, CGL, court and other government typing tests, as well as for job applications. It works on desktop and mobile, is free and needs no sign-up.

Frequently asked questions
How is WPM calculated?
One "word" is counted as 5 characters, including spaces. Net WPM = correctly typed characters / 5 / minutes. Gross (raw) WPM counts every character you typed, right or wrong.
How is accuracy calculated?
Accuracy = keystrokes that matched the passage / total characters typed, as a percentage. Corrected mistakes still count against accuracy, as in most exam software.
What speed is needed for SSC exams?
SSC CHSL and CGL typing tests generally require about 35 WPM in English (10,500 key depressions per hour). Always check the latest official notification for your exam.
Is Hindi typing supported?
This test uses English passages. You can still practise Hindi (Unicode) typing elsewhere; the WPM method is the same.
How do I check my typing speed?
Pick a duration, click the passage and start typing. Your WPM and accuracy appear when the time runs out.
What is a good typing speed?
Around 40 WPM is a comfortable average for office work; 35 WPM in English is the usual requirement for SSC typing tests.
How can I improve my typing speed?
Learn touch typing on the home row, practise daily for short sessions and focus on accuracy first; speed follows.
