This tile calculator works out how many tiles and boxes you need for a floor or wall. Enter the room length and width, pick a common tile size such as 600 × 600 mm or 2 × 2 ft or type a custom size, and set wastage and the number of tiles per box.

Frequently asked questions
How much wastage should I add?
About 5–7% for straight laying in a regular room, 10% for many cuts, and 15% for diagonal or herringbone patterns.
How many 600×600 tiles cover 100 sq ft?
One 600×600 mm tile covers 0.36 m² (3.875 sq ft), so about 26 tiles, or 28–29 with wastage.
Is 2×2 ft the same as 600×600 mm?
Nearly. A true 2×2 ft tile is 609.6 mm; most “2×2” tiles sold in India are actually 600×600 mm.
How do I calculate tiles for a room?
Divide the room area by the area of one tile and add 5–10% for cutting and breakage. The calculator also rounds up to full boxes.
How many tiles are in a box of 600 × 600 mm?
Usually 4 tiles, covering about 15.5 sq ft, but check the box label and enter the actual number.
How much tile do I need for a 10 × 12 room?
The floor is 120 sq ft; with 2 × 2 ft tiles that is 30 tiles, or about 33 with wastage.
