Line Tools
Add line numbers, prefixes and suffixes, join lines, split text into lines and wrap long text.
About Line Tools
These line tools handle common list and text edits in one place. Add line numbers to any text, put a prefix or suffix on every line, join many lines into one with a separator, split text into lines at a character, or wrap long text to a fixed width.
They are handy for turning an Excel column into a comma-separated list, wrapping values in quotes for SQL or code, numbering steps or merging lines copied from a PDF. The output of one tool can be used as the input to the next. It is free, needs no sign-up and runs in your browser.
How to use Line Tools
- Choose a tool tab: Number, Prefix/Suffix, Join, Split or Wrap.
- Paste your text and adjust the options.
- Copy the output or use it as input for the next step.
Frequently asked questions

Open the Join tab, paste your lines and choose a separator such as a space or comma.
How do I add text to the start of every line?
Use the Prefix / Suffix tab and type what you want added before or after each line.
